Television / Satellite signal distribution systems

Television (MATV) and / or Satellite (SMATV) is were these signals being distribution through cable networks to multi-point environment, i.e. office blocks, hotels, hospitals, holiday resorts, town houses, blocks of flats etc.

1.)     Site surveys and design includes the following;

·       Select a suitable position for the head-end;

·       Head-end, type and amount off channels required;

·       Head-end satellite signal requirements;

·       Earthing requirements;

·       Types off cables to be used;

·       Cable routes, conduit layout;

·       Amplifier positions for cable routes;

·       Positions for multi-switchers and / or splitters

2.)     Supply and Installation includes the following;

·       Receive antennas and satellite dishes as required;

·       Satellite decoders, modulators, up-converters, cables etc.;

·       Cable reticulations, splitters, multi-switchers and outlets

3.)     Commissioning includes the following;

·       Align antennas and satellite dishes;

·       Align Head-end output power levels;

·       Align Amplifier levels;

·       Measure signal levels and bit error rate (BER);

·       Measure signal levels at the outlets and

Compile commissioning report;

Satellite television is now a reality and more channels become available. Because off the higher frequencies used for the satellite signal in these distribution systems, special equipment, cable and design are required.
